Southwest China’s Yunnan province kicked off a Chinese-language training program to Indian business professions on June 18, with the opening session gathering around 50 participants online.

Encompassing 60 sessions, the 3-month language program is jointly organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Calcutta, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of West Bengal, Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office and Yunnan University.

“As China's window of opening-up to south and southeast Asia, Yunnan has a long tradition of friendly exchanges with India, especially with the east Indian region,” said Zha Liyou, consulate general of China in Calcutta, hoping the two sides could take this training as an opportunity for more exchanges.

Angana Guha Roy Chowdhury, assistant director-general at the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kolkata, said India thanks China for the program, believing it will facilitate business communication. “We look forward to further cooperation with Chinese Yunnan province in economy, trade and more,” said Roy.
