The first Shangri-La Matsutake Forum was held at Shangri-La Airport in Diqing Tibetan autonomous prefecture on June 30. More than 800 government officials, experts, scholars, business representatives attended the forum.

This event discussed about the how to protect the wild matsutake and how to jointly tap the potential in the wild mushroom business.

Listed as a national second-class protected endangered species, the fungus can not still be man made. The forum focused on the ecological protection and research on mushrooms.

“The picking process should be standardized so that the matsutake industry could be sustainable, benign and long-lasting in Diqing”, said Zhang Weidong, the governor of Diqing.

The delivery company SF Express opened the first all-cargo flight for matsutake in 2021, enabling fresh matsutake to reach dinner tables in time.

In June this year, SF Express officially established the SF Airlines sorting center at Shangri-La Airport, allowing mushrooms to reach 60-200 cities in China within 24-48 hours.
