The 2022 China International Travel Mart (CITM) will be held in Kunming, Yunnan province from July 22 to 24.

Starting on July 13, the CITM news releases will focus on the 16 prefectures and cities around Yunnan, presenting their natural beauty, folk customs and growth in cultural tourism.

Today, let’s turn to Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture and Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture for a closer look.

The two places in Yunnan have fused tourism into the dinosaur sites, border areas and eco-protection, in a bid to roll out diverse tourist products.

What’s the dinosaur tourism in Chuxiong?

Dubbed as the “home to dinosaurs”, Chuxiong prefecture has unearthed the most dinosaur fossils in the world.

Now, Chuxiong has rolled out a number of fine tourist routes.

They include the Dinosaur Valley-Yuanmou Fossils route; the Guanglu Old Town-Shiyang Old Town-Heijing Old Town-Yiren Old Town route; the Wuding Jiyi Rift Valley-Yuanmou Earth Forest route; the Wuding Lion Mountain-Chuxiong Zixi Mountain-Yongren Fangshan health route; the Luoci Hot Springs-World Dinosaur Valley Hot Springs route.

Tours for festivals, heritages and dishes are also designed.

In addition, the prefecture has planned 493 tourist projects with a total investment of nearly 400 billion yuan. Among them, the Chuxiong Jurassic Cultural Park, the Laojun Mountain Health Tourism Resort, the Jinsha Lake Eco-tourism Zone and the Ancient Mankind Culture Park are each valued at over 10 billion yuan.

What’re eco-tourism and border tourism in Honghe?

Bordering Vietnam, Honghe is located in southeast Yunnan and named after the beautiful Red River that flows through the prefecture itself.

Honghe focuses on new business modes and potentials. Fusing culture, rehabilitation, education, sports into tourism, it has designed leisure tours that feature cultural experiences, eco-rehabilitation, scientific research, outdoor sports and rural lifestyles.

Also, the prefecture has improved the Jianshui Purple Pottery Street, the Kaiyuan Nanzheng Street and the Hekou Exotic Street.

Honghe rolled out tours featuring the Mengzi Across-Bridge Rice Noodles, the Hani Long Street Banquet and the Hani Terrace Traditional Village and the South Yunnan Sentimental Rural Tour.

It also created the theatrical tours for performing arts in Shiping, Honghe and Yuanyang counties.

Honghe said it would plan to hold a cross-border tourism news release with the Vietnamese side.

Based on the unique location and resources, the prefecture’s Hekou aims to be an ideal border tourism destination, with rural tourism and cultural tourism. It will join hands with Vietnam for more cooperation in cultural tourism, resuming Sino-Vietnamese border tours.
