The 2022 China International Travel Mart(CITM) will be held in Kunming, Yunnan province from July 22 to 24.

Starting on July 13, the CITM news releases will focus on the 16 prefectures and cities around Yunnan, presenting their natural beauty, folk customs and growth in cultural tourism.

Today, let’s turn to Kunming and Yuxi for a closer look.

The two cities in central Yunnan have fused tourism into the digital drive, culture heritages and eco-protection, in a bid to roll out diverse tourist products.

What’s the tourism digitalization in Kunming?

Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan, is entitled as a "UN livable eco-city" and a "top 10 Chinese tourist cities to avoid summer heat".

Digitalization and AI have been emphasized in Kunming's tourism development.

In the future, Kunming will carry forward smart tourism by upgrading tourist consumption, designing new products and business patterns, and improving tourist services.

Among them, the city will roll out relaxing night tourist routes, waterscape night sights and nighttime museum services.

It will also create such immersive tours as the Cuihu/green lake night activities and light shows.

Around the Dianchi Lake, diverse scenic areas will be build up with the themes of Yunnan culture, grand lake Dian, flower capital, plateau sports, modern cultural tourism, lake-side performing arts, and more.

What’s the cultural tourism in Yuxi?

Yuxi has lovely hills and clear waters.

The city houses the famed freshwater lake of Fuxian and the world heritage site of Chengjiang fossils, where a nature museum has been built up.

Besides the Fuxian lake, the Hongta group and the Huayao branch of the Dai people are also well known.

Yuxi officials said the city would put its cultural elements into urban development, in a bid to make Yuxi cultures more visible.

The Nie Er national anthem learning center will be renovated, with music/culture activities to be held.

As a typical city of Chinese couplets and Chinese poetry, Yuxi is also a cradle of Yunnan Opera and festive lantern shows. Cultural heritages abound in Yuxi’s Tonghai, of which the Dongjing music is a national treasure.
