"We’ve already obtained organic certifications from China, the United States, Japan and the European Union," said Zhang Yubin, director of the Zuxiang Alp Tea Garden.

The firm began planting organic tea in 1998. Now, Zuxiang's organic tea planting area has reached 12,300 mu (around 820 hectares), with its variety of tea products surpassing 70 in number.

Speaking of producing organic tea, Zhang noted that the steps in tea planting and producing were monitored with strict standard and requirements.

Thanks to their great care and focusing on details, the teas were exported to the United States, Germany, Britain, France, Nigeria and other countries.

In 2018, the Zuxiang tea garden began to explore the way of integration of tea and tourism, joining hands with travel agencies and hotels and inviting in more tourists.

"We invited kids from schools to experience tea harvesting, tea baking, tea compressing and other tea-making procedures,” Zhang Yubin said, adding they also learned something about tea culture.

Since 2021, Zuxiang started to sell tea through online platforms. "Now, there is a live broadcast group working every day in the base. From July on, the daily turnover of Zuxiang flagship store on Tik Tok surged to 50,000 to 60,000 yuan."

When it came to the future development, Zhang is of great confidence: "With the opening of China-Laos Railway, the cost of logistics has been reduced. The business environment in Pu'er is improved, and now it is easier to invite in talents."
