Kunming to breed 10 TCM herbs, each worth 100 mil yuan

Central Yunnan’s mega city Kunming will cultivate 10 traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbs that will each have a market value of over 100 million yuan, said Kunming Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs the other day.

To contribute to Yunnan’s role as Chinese new pivot of opening-up facing south and southeast Asia, Kunming will grow in bulk high-quality Chinese herbal medicines, including Panax notoginseng, Angelicae sinensis, Radix codonopsis, Rhizoma gastrodiae, and others.

By 2025, the TCM planting area in Kunming will reach 350,000 mu, or 23,333 hectares. The agricultural value will be over 3 billion yuan, while the gross output value will be more than 50 billion yuan. .
