A cold-chain truck carrying 17.28 tons of fresh Vietnamese durians went through the Hekou border gate and entered the Chinese market on October 11.

“These fresh durians are produced in Dak Lak Province, Vietnam, and valued at about 535,680 yuan,” said manager of the Hekou Sutao trading company. “They’ll be sold to Jiaxing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and other Chinese cities via the cargo transit hub in Kunming.”

China announced that qualified Vietnamese durians could be imported to domestic markets from July 27, 2022, following the effect of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

Now Vietnam is the second ASEAN country to export durian to China after Thailand.
