Zhang fights against nematodes for 40 years
Zhang Keqin is an academic leader in biological control of crop pathogenic nematodes in China. For 40 years, Professor Zhang has been settled on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, focusing on the tricky control of harmful nematodes and contributing a lot to agricultural production.
Zhu makes Yunnan medicine better known
Living in Yunnan for decades, Zhu Zhaoyun and her team have researched local medicinal resource, identifying 4,392 ethnic medicines. Zhu also edited six monographs, including Illustrated Handbook for Medicinal Materials from Nature in Yunnan and The Annals of Ethnic Medicine of Yunnan. With 22 volumes and 11.91 million Chinese characters, Zhu has set an example for inheriting and innovating ethnic medicines.
Zhang innovates in high-quality dams
Zhang Zongliang has been engaged in the design of hydraulic structures in Yunnan for 37 years. As a technical leader in studying Chinese earth-rock dams, Zhang presided over the design and construction of 24 large-scale hydropower projects, such as Nuozhadu, Tianshengqiao and Guanyinyan. In November 2021, he was elected as an academician at China Academy of Engineering.
Huang dedicated to vaccine making
As a talent introduced to the province, Huang Zhen joined the Yunnan Walvax Biotechnology Company in 2003. He has taken the lead in developing 10 bacterial vaccines and marketing them successfully. Four of the vaccines belong to the cutting-edge ones in the world today.
Yi processes green foods in Yunnan
Under the high-end talent introduction program, Yi Junjie became one of the first young talents invited to Yunnan province in 2018. In modernizing, standardizing and industrializing traditional food production, she has contributed a lot to deep processing of Yunnan green foods.
Zhang dialogues with ancient creatures
At the beginning of 2002, Zhang Xiguang came to Yunnan. For 20 years, he has been studying stratigraphic paleontology in the province. Zhang and his team unveiled the fabric characteristics of the earliest crustaceans during the Cambrian Explosion. He has thus blazed a new trail for studying the marine bio-communities in early Cambrian.
