Xi sends congratulatory letter to 6th China-South Asia Exposition
The 6th China-South Asia Exposition (CSA Expo) and the 26th China Kunming Import & Export Fair opened in Kunming, Yunnan province today.
Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the CSA expo.
As friendly neighbors and partners in development, China and the South Asian countries are a community with a shared future, Xi said in the letter.
In recent years, the two sides have deepened practical cooperation in all aspects, and the trade and economic exchanges maintained a sound momentum, bringing benefits to people of all countries, Xi noted.
He stressed that China is willing to work with all countries, with the China-South Asia Exposition being a platform, to foster consensus on enhancing solidarity and cooperation and pursuing development, create more growth drivers in cooperation, advance the high-quality development of the Belt and Road cooperation and implement the Global Development Initiative, so as to build a more prosperous and brighter future together.
The theme of the expo is “New opportunities for New Development”.
It is the first major international event held by Yunnan after the successful conclusion of the 20th CPC National Congress.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the inception of CSA Expo.

Today, the pavilions for Bangladesh, the country of Honor, and Laos, the guest country, also opened.
The pavilion of Bangladesh is designed after the National Assembly Building of Bangladesh. In the pavilion, books, handiworks, carpets and costumes were displayed.
Covering an area of 600 square meters, the Lao pavilion is designed after the Royal Palace in Luang Prabang and the Arch of Triumph in Vientiane.
Many products from Laos were displayed, including delicate handiworks, beer with good quality, rice and ancient tree tea.
The Tourism and Culture Pavilionn features diverse tourist products from Yunnan.
Covering about 10,000 square meters, the Yunnan-themed pavilion consists of the preface hall, smart tourism exhibition, intangible cultural heritage exhibition, municipal cultural tourism exhibition, tourist enterprise exhibition, cultural and creative products exhibition, cultural tourism consumption exhibition, and more.
More than 120 cultural tourism enterprises from 16 Yunnan prefectures and cities was displayed at the pavilion, together with 26 intangible cultural heritages. 50 inheritors of these heritages will give performances on Yunnan traditional music, dance, opera and more during the exhibition.
The prologue hall presents a beautiful picture of Yunnan as the "plant kingdom", "animal kingdom", "world garden", and "tourist paradise".
The China-Laos Railway is about to mark the first anniversary of its operation. As an exhibitor, China Railway Kunming Group set foot on the Expo for the first time, drawing much attention from public.
This time, the theme of China Railway Kunming Group is “Railway connects neighboring countries and promotes the development of transportation". They display the economic development along the line driven by both passenger and freight of the China-Laos railway and more contents.
This is also a "take away" expo!
