Kunming continues opening its tourism industry

Central Yunnan’s Kunming city has continued to develop a tourism industry featuring internationalization, high stardards, specialization, and smart services in recent years. It has launched a batch of cultural and tourism products and investment projects with local characteristics and flavors based on its rich cultural tourism resources, promoting the transformation and upgrade of the cultural tourism industry.

Established in 2017, Kunming International Friendship Cities Tourism Alliance now includes the famed Yunnan tourist destinations of Kunming, Pu’er and Xishuangbanna as well as 6 international friendship cities, such as Luang Prabang, Vientiane. The alliance also has other member cities along the China-Laos Railway.

Besides, international sports events, such as SCO Kunming International Marathon and Kunming Dianchi International Dragon Boat Championship, are held to in the spring city to build an integrated promotion platform for cultural industrialization and tourism internationalization.

Kunming also presented cultural tourist projects and products and quality tourism routes nationwide to invite in more business investment and tourists.

Kunming currently plans to build high-quality hotels, resorts, theme parks, cultural tourism blocks, museums, cultural and art scenic spots, restaurants, infrastructure, and other facilities for cultural tourism.

At Yunnan Promotion Conference for Culture and Tourism Industry held this July, four projects were signed on site with a contract value of over 63.7 billion yuan.

In the future, Kunming will step forward to unleash its consumption potential in the culture and tourism industry, transforming itself from a transit station to a world-famous tourist destination.
