Cosplay by Gen Z makes a hit online

Niao Mu, a Bai ethnic guy from southwest Yunnan’s Lincang city, is going viral theses days because of his ethnic costume play with his partner.

Born in a traditional Bai family in 1999, Niao is a typical member of the Z generation, and he has been interested in Bai culture since his childhood. Starting in June 2020, Niao devotes himself to presenting Yunnan province via short videos.

Niao and his team created videos by following the trends online. When Yunnan ethnic cultures are coupled with international elements, they can gain even millions of “likes” with a single video. “ Yunnan owns diverse ethnic culture, deserving to be known and recognized by the world,” said Niao.
