Li Shikai, a national-level inheritor of the Lusheng dance popular among the Lahu ethnic folks, took up the dance at the age of 15, and by keeping practice for several decades, he has mastered more than 100 moves.

As a villager of Laodabao in southwest Yunnan’s Lancang autonomous county, Li also teaches the dance to locals without reservation.

Listed as a national heritage in 2008, the Lusheng dance are still staged often, making it appealing to visitors.

Lahu is a cross-border ethnic group that lives between China and Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam.
