Yunnan creates more jobs for the disabled

“I’m so happy to find a job nearyby my home,” said Cui Qingfen, a disabled worker at the Laitianchu condiment factory in east Yunnan’s Qujing city. Cui was picking chili peppers.
Cui Qingfen has a leg disability. After knowing Cui’s needs and interest, the local disabled’ people federation helped her to contact enterprises and find a proper job. With a 2,000 yuan monthly salary, disability benefits and her husband’s income from farming, Cui’s life became easier and more promising.
The general manager of Laitinachu condiment factory said there are 12 disabled employees in the factory, with a per capita annual income of 21,000 yuan. The factory also pays endowment and rural medical insurances for each of them.
There are about 1.47 million licensed disabled people in Yunnan. Nearly 753,500 of them are of working age. To provide enough employment opportunities for the disabled, related departments in Yunnan has introduced a series of supporting policies in recent year.
Employment services for people with disabilities have been established in 129 cities, counties and districts in the province. In 2022, 16,033 disabled people found jobs in Yunnan.
