Governor Wang Yubo delivered the government work report on behalf of Yunnan Provincial People's Government. In his report, Wang reviewed the work done in the past and laid out the goals for the coming five years.

In the new era of the past ten years, Yunnan has seen fast growth and great changes that have brought locals the utmost benefits, said Wang.

Citing President Xi Jinping’s encouraging visits to Yunnan, as well as the UN COP15 meeting, the China-Laos railway and the Wudongde hydro project where the province has played a key role, the governor said Yunnan GDP is estimated to have grown at around 4 percent in 2022, a rate above the national average.

Wang added the next five years will be a crucial period for Yunnan to start all-round socialist modernization.

In 2023, Yunnan GDP will grow at around 6 percent, with the fixed asset investment growing by around 9 percent. The urban unemployment rate will be kept at around 5.5 percent, and the CPI is expected to rise by 3 percent.

The five-day session's agenda mainly includes reviewing reports on the implementation of Yunnan annual socio-economic development plans and local fiscal budgets.
