The ancient traditional wedding customs have been observed by Hani people living in Zhenyuan Yi, Hani and Lahu autonomous county, southwest Yunnan’s Puer.
On the wedding day, the newly-weds will go through many traditional rituals of welcoming the groom, waiting for the groom, picking up the bride, going out, crossing the bridge and entering the door.
Among them, the most distinctive feature is that the bride's mother will sing a special song to bid farewell to her would-be married daughter in a weeping voice, which is called "crying wedding". In 2015, it was listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Zhenyuan.
