Go Deep in Lijiang: Cultural week ends up in fashion show
A splendid fashion show was staged at the Yuhe Square in the old town of Lijiang on January 18 as the final event of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Week. More than 100 sets of distinctive local costumes debuted in the show, demonstrating the charm of cultural heritages and ethnic fashion trend in Lijiang.
Located in the northwest Yunnan Plateau, Lijiang houses three world heritage sites: Lijiang Ancient City, Three Parallel Rivers and Dongba Ancient Books. 11 ethnic groups live in Lijiang together, and their costume is a representative culture in Lijiang.
The first part of the event showed the diverse Naxi clothes with a long history.
The second part featured new Naxi clothes produced by the Gucheng Intangible Heritage Center.
In the third part, young designers from Shanghai and Lijiang jointly created an new costume.
"I am very happy that my old and new Naxi costumes are displayed on the runway,” said Zhang Liyun, inheritor of Naxi costumes and founder of a local garment company. Zhang hoped Naxi clothing could be known to the outside world.
