45.14 million trips taken in Yunnan during Spring Festival holiday

Yunnan province received a record high of 45.14 million tourists in the just-concluded 2023 Spring Festival holiday, a year-on-year increase of 244.7%, said local tourist authorities on January 28.

With provincial tourism revenue reaching 38.435 billion yuan, Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism noted local tourist number and revenue in the Chinese new year holiday this year have recovered to 130.3% and 132.5% of those in 2019 respectively.

During the week-long holiday, the number of tourists from outside Yunnan reached 20.582 million, accounting for 45.59% of the total. The 45 A-level tourist attractions of the province received a total of 3,516,900 tourists, with an average daily reception of 502,400.

The 16 prefectures and cities in Yunnan have all harvested a double-digit growth in the number of tourist reception. Tourism in the border areas of Dehong, Xishuangbanna and Baoshan fully recovered, and 19 border towns saw rapid tourism growth.

Among them, the border towns of Jinghong, Tengchong, Funing and others each recorded a year-on-year increase of over 130% in tourist number. The Ruili town that borders Myanmar received 375,000 tourists, exhibiting a strong momentum in tourism recovery.

Cultural-tourist products have gained more popularity in the holiday. Museums, libraries and cultural centers grew to be new tourist attractions. The 183 museums across Yunnan received around 980,000 visitors, with libraries visited by 307,000 and cultural centers benefiting 13.55 million online and offline.
