Enjoy Guwa dance in Mouding county

Folks of all age can perform Guwa dance in Xin village of Mouding county, central Yunnan’s Chuxiong Yi Autonomous prefecture.

The natural Guwa dance is a form of the left-footed dance popular among the Yi folks. During the dance, sonorous and rhythmical beats can be heard. The three-stringed musical instruments are commonly seen in this dance and dancers often sing along with the tunes.

When festivals arrive, local people will dance in groups to express their respect for nature and pray for a bumper harvest in the coming year.
