Photographers recently observed and captured numerous Psittacula rosettes, Alexandrine parakeets, grey-headed parakeets, dark-breasted parrotbills, and red-collared lorikeets in Ruili city, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province.

"There are nine species of parrots in China," said Liu Yang, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Ecology of Sun Yat-sen University. Five species of parrots, all of which are nationally protected wildlife, have long coexisted in Ruili. The area is also home to some other rare birds. Therefore, Ruili could be called a land of parrots in China. Meanwhile, Dehong is also known as the valley for hornbills. Both suggest the eco-beauty of Dehong.
