Lusheng making of Yi folks in Jingdong

The Lusheng flute is a traditional musical instrument of Yi folks. It is an integral part of the musical accompanying instruments at the Yi dance and sing performance.


A Lusheng flute is made of 6 bamboo pipes, each having a unique pitch. The Yi folks have been playing the Lusheng for hundreds of years. A Lusheng is made of one bottle gourd and 5 pipes of various pitches, with the pipes holing through the gourd belly.

When festivals come, the Yi people in villages will play this traditional instrument. Through this instrument, the spirit and history of Yi are inherited. And the Yi people are carrying the responsibility of reserving their culture.
