As spring comes into its full swing, Yunnan natives are busy harvesting cherries, blueberries, loquats, and other fruits, stirring the fruit lovers’ taste buds with their fruit baskets.

Cherries

In April, cherries in central Yunnan’s Anning city are ripe for picking! Cultivated for over 20 years, the cherry varieties here have a great taste and hit the market earlier than others. More than 1,000 Mus of orchards are now full of cherries, whose color has changed from yellow to red.

Blueberries

At the moment, blueberries are getting mature in the 10,000 mu (around 666 hectares) blueberry plantation in Jingdong Yi autonomous county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu'er city. Each tree is filled with plump and juicy blueberries.

Meanwhile, clusters of blueberries are mature enough to exude a delightful aroma at the international blueberry pilot zone in Mengzi city, southwest Yunnan’s Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture.

Loquats

Now, over 1,000 Chinese Mus (around 66 hectares) of loquat in Midu county, west Yunnan’s Dali Bai autonomous prefecture, are ready for picking. The fruit is round and plump, with a rich fragrance. Farmers gently pick and pack the loquats into baskets.

A rich fragrance permeates the orchard in the Jiucun town, central Yunnan’s Chengjiang county, where over 30 Chinese Mus of golden loquats are also ready for marketing.

 Mulberries

April is the season for mulberries. In the Shanren fruit plantation in central Yunnan’s Yuxi city, the mulberry trees are thriving and lush. Over 200 kilometers away from Yuxi, hundreds of Chinese Mus of mulberries have fully grown one after another in Qujing city. The mulberries hang from the branches, attracting visitors to the fun of countryside fruit picking and photography.

Recently, the mandarin orchards in Nanjian Yi autonomous county, Dali Bai autonomous prefecture, are flourishing, so villagers are busy harvesting, transporting, sorting, boxing, and loading the fruit to the market.
