Jewelry industry prospers in Ruili
Ruili, an original jade-producing region as well as a major distribution center for jewelry and gemstones, is located in west Yunnan's Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture that borders Myanmar.
The local government developed the jewelry industry with an improved industrial chain and a strong cultural atmosphere. Jewelry merchants from Myanmar, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and all parts of China are visible on the streets of Ruili.
Before the Coivd outbreak, there were over 70,000 people engaged in jewelry and jade processing and sales in Ruili, with nearly 40,000 involved in live-streaming sales. In 2020, the direct transaction volume of the jade and jewelry live-streaming industry surpassed 10 billion yuan.
Since the end of 2022, major jewelry markets in Ruili have resumed production and trade orderly. Ruili's online live-streaming transaction volume has exceeded 1.6 billion yuan in the first quarter this year.
