Recently, a group of wild Asian elephants was spotted bathing and frolicking in a river in Jiangcheng Hani and Yi autonomous county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er city.

Faced with mosquitoes and scorching temperatures, Asian elephants usually swim in the river and roll in mud to lower their body temperature and fend off insect bites.

They sprinkle dirt on their bodies and use tree leaves to swat themselves, effectively repelling mosquitoes and providing relief from the heat.
