Fire worship in Chuxiong highlighted by left-footed dance

In central Yunnan’s Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture, a memorial ceremony for fire was highlighted by left-footed dances and torch carnivals on August 10.

The ceremony was held in the evening, when fires were lighted up simultaneously at five sites in the prefectural seat.

The Torch Festival is marked in Chuxiong prefecture.

Li Yingying, a tourist from Kunming, said that she had a great time dancing with locals, and she was impressed by the Yi people’s zest in fire.

This year’s celebrations in Chuxiong also involve a float parade, Yi embroidery, food show, heritage forum, music festival, and ethnic sports.

 

The Torch Festival is marked in Chuxiong prefecture.

The annual celebrations for the Torch Festival, which is popular among the Yi, Bai, Naxi and even Han ethnic groups, came to a climax in the Yunnan localities of Chuxiong, Kunming and others that day.
