Bai Hua, a girl born in the late 1990s, is a veterinarian in Yuanzhou district of Guyuan city, northwest China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region. Working in Xihaigu village, she has more than a million fans online.

Bai was once a pet doctor and worked in a large cattle farm. She thought it more challenging to treat larger animals like cattle and sheep rather than cats or dogs.

At the beginning, Bai set up a veterinarian station in her hometown Yuanzhou district to help treat villagers’ cattle. The villagers doubted that if she could do her work well. However, Bai was so careful and patient with this tough work that, after some time, the villagers began to trust her.

Bai loves pink. She thinks the color is clean and healing. So, she often dresses in pink gown and gloves. Using a pink case and a stethoscope, she drives a pink car.

She began to share her daily routines online in 2022. In her short videos, she stays on dirty farms in tidy clothes. She cures the sick animals calmly, winning attention from the netizens. Now, she has more than 3 million fans.

Many farmers started to know Bai by her short videos online. Then, they would consult her for their sick animals. With 3 WeChat accounts of more than 15 thousand friends of farmers, Bai answers lots of phone calls. Sometimes, she even has to work late at night.

Bai’s work is not easy. At beginning, she was often bruised by cattle and was even covered with cattle faeces, but she never gave up. “I got a sense of achievement because I saved lives,” said Bai. She wanted to a best veterinarians.

Moved by Bai’s story, several young veterinarians born in the 1990s came back home and joined her medical team.
