Thanks to the China-Laos Railway, Chinese consumers can now enjoy fresher durians imported from Laos or Thailand, but most consumers do not know how to select durian, so they need durian inspectors’ help in identifying the rotten ones.

Shao, a 60-year old inspector in Kunming, has been inspecting durian for eight years. Touching more than a thousand durians each day, he is able to precisely estimate how ripe a durian is within 24 hours by its’ color and sound when knocked and how long they will stay fresh.

With the help of the durian inspectors, consumers can be more satisfied with the durian they receive.
