Exquisite wood carvings of Simao district in Pu'er

Fluttering beetles, crawling mantises, and hairy insect larvae are all made of woods. The intricately crafted and lifelike wooden masterpieces with fine details, like delicate antennae to the patterns between transparent wings of the insects, are meticulously carved.

These are masterpieces made by traditional wood carving skills of Simao district in Pu’er city. In February 2023, the traditional wood carving craftsmanship was listed as the sixth batch of representative projects of intangible cultural heritage at the municipal level in Pu'er City.
