As the summer vacation has arrived, tourism in China is boosting. Data released by tourism analyzing platforms showed that young people are more fond of slow city walks these days rather than the earlier fast-pace travel. City walk brings the young a much more relaxing time.

City walk leaves tourists longer time of staying. Data released by Meituan Minsu, a website for room booking service, shows that the number of homestay bookings for the past two summer months as of July 10, has increased by 200% year on year. People mainly chooses Bed and Breakfast (B&B).

City walk, allowing young people to experience local culture and custom to build deeper connection to the city, actually shows the change of young people’s travel idea from frequency oriented to quality oriented.

On Tujia Minsu, another platform providing travel service, the search volume for the keyword "city walk" has increased by 450% year on year as of January this year. Many owners of B&B even launched special walking routes for tourists.

Now, the volunteering-for-staying travel is getting more popular each day as tourists can do volunteer work in hotels for free staying. In the popular surfing destination of Wanning, south China’s Hainan province, the number of homestay bookings during the summer has increased by 22 times compared to the same period in 2019.
