In recent years, camping has emerged as a popular trend in outdoor leisure, becoming a top choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

Major scenic spots in south China's Hainan province have recognized the necessity of updating tourism formats and have embraced the camping industry.

The Sky Mountain resort in Haikou Bay, featuring its undulating white roofs that stretch along the coastline, creates a beautiful landscape.

This resort, which includes a library, coffee shops, an exhibition area and occasional performances, meets cultural needs of locals and tourists alike. As one of Haikou's sixteen seaside resorts, Sky Mountain has become a new landmark in the city, attracting many to its services.

"Camping by the beach is super funny. You can play in the seawater or pick up shells and small crabs by the seaside. Also, you can hear the sound of animals in the rainforest, and buy unique tourism products in different villages," said camping enthusiast Mu Mu, who shared her experiences at various camping sites across Hainan on social media. She affirmed that camping is something that can easily become addictive.

Over the past two years, the camping products in Hainan have seen a significant surge. New camping bases and camping activities have also driven the transformation of local scenic spots.

"Camping requires innovation. For example, camping can be deeply integrated into culture, sports and other to enrich the camping experience," said Liu Hanqi, Secretary-General of the Self-Driving and Camping RV Branch of the China Tourism Association.

Li Yanjiao, the host of the "Starry Sky Campsite" in the Tianya Haijiao Scenic Area, believed that campground operators should improve facilities, enhance the intelligence and convenience of camping equipment, and take on ecological responsibilities. "Campsites help to promote civilized tourism, and any harms on environment should be prohibited," said Li.

As competition in the camping business grows, providing high-quality services becomes essential. Campsites should diversify their products and services by joining hands with scenic areas, study tours, outdoor sports, performances and others.
