Smart factory produces 15 million vegetable seedlings

The Chunxiao Agricultural Vegetable Factory in Dongchuan district of Kunming city, capital of Yunnan province, has completed the construction of 14 high-standard, smart greenhouse seedling nurseries.

Since the project went into operation in June this year, it has produced 15 million seedlings, with an estimated annual output of over 50 million seedlings. This can achieve an annual output value of more than 20 million yuan, making it the largest modern factory for scale, intelligent, and intensive vegetable seedling cultivation in Kunming.

"This project is one of the key investment attraction projects in Dongchuan and will create a sustainable modern vegetable seedling factory," said Zhang Hongmei, Director of the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Dongchuan district.

The factory's intelligent environmental control system achieves a purification efficiency of over 97% for water and fertilizer irrigation systems, with a germination rate of over 95% for seeds of various vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, and melons.

According to the project leader of the corporation, the base has cultivated vegetable seedlings, including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, watermelons, cabbage, and lettuce. These seedlings are supplied to local and other provincial markets, as well as to other Chinese provinces like Guizhou, Guangxi and Sichuan.
