Tourism in Yunnan province continues to heat up during the 8-day holiday of Mid Autumn Festival and the National Day. Many local tourists choose to explore nearby destinations to experience leisure in life.

"We just wanted to take some short trips nearby. We came to Gasa township in Xinping county, and tasted local cuisine,” said Ms Zhang from Kunming city, capital of Yunnan. “We watched the traditional performances of the Huayaodai folks to experience different ethnic cultures."

In addition to visiting unique towns, people also choose to go to the countryside surrounding the city for a quiet and comfortable rural experience.

The small fishing village on the south bank of Dianchi Lake boasts picturesque natural landscapes, with wetland scenery scattered around and lush aquatic plants surrounding the village, making it particularly attractive to residents of Kunming.

Mr. Chen, a local resident, had booked a tent hotel in the village on a travel platform before the holiday. "During the holiday, I brought my family here to experience ancient Dian culture, enjoy tent barbecues, and participate in activities like sunflower picking, sunset performances, and bonfire parties with the kids,” Chen said happily.

Mr. Wu, another resident, drove nearly 50 kilometers from Kunming to Duqu village to experience the daily life and rich history along the shores of Dianchi Lake. "My first impression of the village was how clean and beautiful it is. The old adobe walls are now covered with down-to-earth yet artistic comics," Mr. Wu said.

In this March, Yunnan local cartoonist Li Kunwu came to Duqu village and experienced life with the locals. He painted the "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" of Duqu on the white walls, creating a nostalgic atmosphere unique to each village.

Li expressed his plans to create more diverse works in the future, presenting the rich and inclusive cultural spirit of Dianchi Lake to the world.

Ms Li, who lives in Mangshi city, decided not to travel far away because of work. So, she chose to have fun in Mangshi. The local activities and newly developed lifestyle scenes left her in awe. "This is a great choice. It feels like we've stumbled upon a culinary paradise."

Broth beef noodles, Southeast Asian snacks, and a variety of delicacies at the Baisite Food Court of Mangshi, including special cold drinks, pickled chicken feet, Vietnamese spring rolls, and greasy chicken rice, have all come together to whet appetites, allowing people to savor delicious food.
