“As a brand new platform to market Yunnan specialties in Vietnam, our center mostly displays Yunnan flowers and special Yunnan foods that are favored by Vietnamese folks, while selling these products via live streams on TikTok and Shopee, a popular e-commerce platform in Vietnam,” said a staffer at the Yunnan Special Products Exhibition and Experiencing Center in Hanoi.

The staffer was briefing on their center’s business operation to reporters with Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia on July 19, who are having media tours to Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and other countries.

Yunnan is the Chinese gateway to South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean region, and the international communicators are focusing on the provincial practices in building Yunnan into a new international trade corridor that links west China to countries in Southeast Asia and along the Indian Ocean rim.

As the Covid impact is gradually fading away, the Yunnan-Vietnam trade has continued to rebound. Given the "going global" scheme for Yunnan specialties and the features of bilateral trade, our center came into being in May this year, said the person in charge of the Yunnan exhibition center.

According to data of bilateral trade, Yunnan flowers, vegetables and fruits sell well in the Vietnamese market. "But Vietnamese consumers still lack full understanding to the Yunnan products, so we hope to be a bridge for the products and Vietnamese,” said the person in charge, adding the center aims to help more Yunnan businesses to market their products in Vietnam.

To this end, the center’s staffers are inviting well-known Yunnan business representatives to Vietnam for joint exhibitions, sales and other promotional activities. They are also contacting major logistics services in Yunnan and Vietnam, in a bid to explore faster freight model for cross-border logistics.

The person in charge hoped the center could build up a complete supply chain for bilateral trade in the future, linking up the tourist, business and investment sectors in Vietnam and providing one-stop services for Vietnamese who want to travel or conduct business in Yunnan.
