Int’l photo show opens in Dali, displaying 10,000 pictures

The 10th Dali International Photography Festival opened in west Yunnan’s Dali Bai autonomous prefecture on Sep. 1st. With the theme Living Elsewhere -- The Image Era of Love in Dali, the event will run until September 5th.
This year’s festival features nearly 800 domestic and international photography exhibitions, showcasing over 10,000 outstanding photographic works. It has attracted numerous photographers from Beijing, Shanghai, and local Yunnan province, as well as international photography organizations from Singapore, the UK, South Korea, Finland, and more.
As the event kicked off, photography enthusiasts gathered in front of various exhibition areas, trying to understand the thoughts and meanings expressed by the photographers through the photos, music, and lighting atmosphere in the exhibition areas.

In the exhibition area named Island Beachcombing, over 200 discarded flip-flops salvaged from the ocean are neatly arranged on the ground, aiming to raise awareness about ocean protection among the public. In the exhibition area named From Order Sublimation, the photographer showcases key milestones in the transformation of manufacturing industry in Dongguan city of Guangdong province.

The area named Time Imprint of Steel uses plain lenses to take the audience into industrial relics like a thermal power plant, evoking respect for the older generation of industrial workers. The area named Mountains Are There allows viewers to immerse themselves in nature.
Dali ancient town, Weishan ancient town, and Jianchuan ancient town are destinations for tourists from home and abroad and a paradise for photography.

Since 2009, the Dali International Photography Festival has hosted more than 5,000 exhibitions, showcasing over 100,000 works. The event is engaged with over 30 countries in multicultural exchanges, making it a most internationally influential cultural festival.
