Global Chinese merchants gather in Yunnan for business opportunities
The "2023 Global Chinese Merchants Yunnan Gathering" activity kicked off in central Yunnan’s Kunming city today, inviting in over 200 Chinese merchants and business leaders from 52 countries and regions worldwide.

With the theme of "joining hands with global Chinese merchants for Yunnan development", the event was co-sponsored by the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Dang, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee. It will last till September 26.
The activity aims to build a new platform for Yunnan's opening-up to the outside world, inviting global Chinese business people to Yunnan for investment and carrying forward economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between Yunnan province and the Belt and Road countries, especially those in south and southeast Asia.
During the six-day event, major activities and business tours will be organized. The major activities on Sept. 24 morning will include an opening and a special promotion, focusing on high-land agriculture, cultural tourism, manufacturing and bio-medicine.

The first stage of business tours will last from September 21 to 23. Global Chinese merchants and business leaders invited by the CPPCC Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese will visit the Yunnan localities of Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, Chuxiong and Dali.
In the tours’ second stage from the afternoon of September 24 to 26, other Chinese merchants and business leaders will have field investigation in six Yunnan prefectures and cities, looking into industrial projects for agriculture, manufacturing, cultural tourism, bio-medicine and general health.
Among the Chinese provinces, Yunnan is the fifth largest hometown to overseas Chinese, with 2.5 million overseas Chinese tracing their roots back to the province. 166 key projects have been identified for investment promotion.
