Music on the Silk Road| Enjoy Yunnan folk songs
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. On October 16th, the Yunnan event for the session of the Third Music Education Alliance Across the Belt and Road Conference will kick off. Musicians from various countries and regions will gather in Kunming, the Spring City, to perform the songs of Silk Road friendship together.
Over the years, the Yunnan folk song A Running Brook has been performed both widely, telling a woman's longing for her lover. This song has been performed in multiple countries, including Russia, Austria and Italy, and has even been adapted into a ballet. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Chinese famous director Zhang Yimou selected it for the closing ceremony, earning it the title of Oriental Nocturne in the world of music.
Beautiful Yunnan is also a land saturated with music and dance. It has always been a paradise for musicians to be inspired. Songs based on Yunnan folk music have won gold medals in world-class songwriting competitions. The Phoenix Tail Bamboo Under the Moonlight even debuted in the Tiangong space station, and has thus been performed worldwide by artists. These songs have also been infused with new elements of contemporary music and became popular.
