Yunnan launches cold-chain freight trains to Laos, Vietnam
Two cold-chain freight trains carrying over 700 tons of Yunnan fruits and vegetables departed simultaneously from central Yunnan’s Yuxi city on October 16, and they will arrive in Vientiane, Laos and Laocai, Vietnam one day later.
This marks launch of the China-Laos and China-Vietnam cold chain freight trains.

Yunnan produces more than 28 million tons of vegetables and 13 million tons of fruits annually, of which some 2 million tons are exported to Southeast Asian countries every year.
As new channels for Yunnan produces to go global, the China-Laos and China-Vietnam cold chain freight trains are expected to transport as many as 50,000 tons of Yunnan goods to the ASEAN countries per year.
The first cold-chain freight trains are on their way.
Meanwhile, more than 100,000 tons of tropical fruits from Thailand, Laos and Vietnam will enter the Chinese market yearly through the China-Laos and China-Vietnam cold chain trains.
The cold-chain freight trains will better connect Yunnan with the China-IndoChina economic corridor, further blending the province into the high-quality cooperation and development under the Belt and Road Initiative.
The first China-Laos and China-Vietnam cold chain freight trains are seen in parallel with a pasenger train.
