Participants at the launch cerermony
The idea of a global forest network was endorsed at the high-level dialogue on global development hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in June 2022. Bolstering the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the network will be entrusted to the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet) for operation.
Through policy coordination, pilot projects, capacity building and information sharing, the global forest network will better balance economic development and eco-conservation, carrying forward the green and low-carbon practices. It is open to all countries in the world, especially to members of the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative.
